DOMU ANTIGA

WHERE: in the heart of Sardinia, Gergei

BEMYJOURNEY’S EXPERIENCE ~ “The sense of place. Staying at Domu Antiga I felt truly connected to Sardinia. It was like going back in time, getting in touch with the simplest things, like hearing the village church bells ringing in the morning. Samuel is a great host and the place is authentic and peaceful.” Andrea

WHAT TO EXPECT ~ In the heart of the Sarcidano, lies a valley surrounded by the silver tones of olive trees, the green of the vineyards, the golden fields of wheat and the white pastures of grazing sheep. Here, in a tiny village with only a handful of houses, Samuel welcomes you to his 1800s home to discover a slower pace of living. Domu Antiga will let you experience inner calm, offering a space to dream surrounded by the aroma of freshly baked bread. Stone walls light up through french doors, overlooking the cobblestone streets or the garden. The traditional furnishings are all original and perfectly restored, including bedspreads and rugs handmade by local artisans and headboards made of “antico orbace”, a type of Sardinian wool.  This property has four double bedrooms, each with a private bathroom. Prices start from 130 euro per night.

FOOD PHILOSOPHY ~ Sardinian gastronomic traditions are a great part of Domu Antiga’s philosophy. To keep them alive, Samuel organises cooking classes and cheese workshops so that you can grasp the essence of Sardiciano. A rich breakfast made with genuine ingredients and some local delicacies is served next to the fireplace when it’s winter or on the porch during the summer months. Domu Antiga offers also dinner service, to be reserved in advance.

COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY ~ Domu Antiga’s mission is to enable you to immerse yourself in the Sardinian culture and traditions. Samuel passionately advocates local trade and circular economies and he works every day to promote the local culture and traditions which define the surrounding area, also by offering a few extraordinary experiences to let you understand what makes Sardiciano a unique destination in the world. The property was renovated using ecological and original materials in order to keep the structure authentic and environmentally sustainable.
