WHERE ~ Savelletri, Valle d’Itria – Eastern Apulia
BEMYJOURNEY’S EXPERIENCE ~ “Masseria Cimino is among the most authentic masserie you can experience in Puglia and one the few ones by the sea. The hotel is still managed by the original owner of the historic farmhouse, something that makes it feel anchored to its roots.” Andrea
WHAT TO EXPECT ~ Masseria Cimino is a fortified farmhouse with a tower dating back to the 18th century. The Masseria was built just a few meters from the sea, adjacent to the archaeological site where the ruins of the Ancient Roman city Egnatia (founded in the 6th century B.C.) were discovered. In the 1700s, blocks of stone originating from the perimeter wall of Egnatia were used in the construction of the farmhouse. In 2001, part of the land surrounding the Masseria was deployed to build the San Domenico Golf Club: a spectacular 18 hole professional golf course overlooking the sea. In 2005, the Masseria was completely restored making a great effort to preserve the original architectural features as well as the building materials and the colours of the old farmhouse. Prices start from 190 euro per night, including half-board service.
FOOD PHILOSOPHY ~ Masseria Cimino offers half-board services, including breakfast and a dinner buffet rich proposing traditional Apulian specialities.
