Cilento is a little-explored gem in Campania, southern Italy – a remote destination, where the environment is as wild as it is enchanting. Its calming landscape serves as the ideal backdrop to a dreamy yoga escape, in a beautiful property, designed with friends in mind*. In Cilento, the lush green of the mountains blends with the crystal blue waters of the coast. While its natural wonders (like the Cilento National Park) and historical pearls (like the Paestum Archeological Park), render it an area of unparalleled biodiversity and rich cultural heritage.
SUGGESTED LENGTH: you could stay here for a weekend, but 5-7 days are the best if you wish to explore Cilento. You could also combine this escape with another destination or two – like Matera and Calabria, or Napoli and the Amalfi Coast. If you are interested in picking Andrea’s brain to plan the best escape to reconnect, get in touch here.
SUGGESTED SEASON: Late spring/early autumn (May-June / September).
*The suggested property for this escape can host up to 8 guests (4 double rooms). Rooms can be booked also individually.

A CULTURAL IMMERSION
Aside from its exquisite natural landscape, which can be explored on foot, by boat or even via zipline, this area is a thrilling destination for cultural nomads and gourmands alike. Dive into the local culture with a visit to some of its organic farms. Meet a cheesemaker, or discover its storied wood-oven baking traditions. WHERE ~ near Paestum, Southern Campania
BEMYJOURNEY’S EXPERIENCE ~ “This is a regenerative travel experience. A simple and secluded destination, nestled in the mountains with a sea view. I included Il Cannito in my selection because it has proved one of my favourite places to reconnect with nature. It also combines those elements of beauty and authenticity that we all look for in a hotel.” Andrea
BEMYJOURNEY’S EXTRA ~ BeMyJourney travellers who stay longer than 7 nights will be treated to a welcome gift. Get in touch with Andrea for this special extra.
WHAT TO EXPECT ~ This tiny, family-run getaway is surrounded by thick Mediterranean woodland composed of oaks, elm trees, myrtles, juniper thickets, wild orchids, and olive trees. The terrace and various sun decks – including a swimming pool and designated yoga area – offer enchanting views that allow you to exist in constant harmony with the natural environment. The property’s four bedrooms are adorned with elegant furnishings and paintings by local artists, while the bathrooms double as mini-wellness spaces, replete with soothing hydro-massage and hydro-sonic bathtubs, promoting relaxation and self-care. Prices start from 300 euro per room per night, including 2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella at a local beach club, only 10 km from the property.
FOOD PHILOSOPHY ~ Il Cannito’s restaurant serves local dishes prepared with the finest farm-to-table produce. This is sourced through Agricultura Naturale, a project founded by the family with a view to protecting the area’s natural environment and benefiting the local community.
COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY ~ Il Cannito was restored using eco-sensitive techniques and local materials to replicate the building’s original rural style. In the land that surrounds it, archaeologists discovered the ruins of a “cenobite basiliano” a Greek-Oriental monastery dating back to the 7th century. The property is a family-run business with a mission to enrich travellers’ souls, to create value, and to promote sustainable tourism by employing regenerative techniques that respect, rather than deplete, the area’s natural resources. The family began their journey into sustainable hospitality in 1999 when they opened an ecovillage beach club, followed by this boutique hotel in 2006, and Agricultura Naturale in 2018.
