IL CANNITO

WHERE ~ near Paestum, Southern Campania

BEMYJOURNEY’S EXPERIENCE ~ “This is a regenerative travel experience. A simple and secluded destination, nestled in the mountains with a sea view. I included Il Cannito in my selection because it has proved one of my favourite places to reconnect with nature. It also combines those elements of beauty and authenticity that we all look for in a hotel.” Andrea

BEMYJOURNEY’S EXTRA ~ BeMyJourney travellers who stay longer than 7 nights will be treated to a welcome gift. Get in touch with Andrea for this special extra.

WHAT TO EXPECT ~ This tiny, family-run getaway is surrounded by thick Mediterranean woodland composed of oaks, elm trees, myrtles, juniper thickets, wild orchids, and olive trees. The terrace and various sun decks – including a swimming pool and designated yoga area – offer enchanting views that allow you to exist in constant harmony with the natural environment. The property’s four bedrooms are adorned with elegant furnishings and paintings by local artists, while the bathrooms double as mini-wellness spaces, replete with soothing hydro-massage and hydro-sonic bathtubs, promoting relaxation and self-care. Prices start from 300 euro per room per night, including 2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella at a local beach club, only 10 km from the property.

FOOD PHILOSOPHY ~ Il Cannito’s restaurant serves local dishes prepared with the finest farm-to-table produce. This is sourced through Agricultura Naturale, a project founded by the family with a view to protecting the area’s natural environment and benefiting the local community.

COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY ~ Il Cannito was restored using eco-sensitive techniques and local materials to replicate the building’s original rural style. In the land that surrounds it, archaeologists discovered the ruins of a “cenobite basiliano” a Greek-Oriental monastery dating back to the 7th century. The property is a family-run business with a mission to enrich travellers’ souls, to create value, and to promote sustainable tourism by employing regenerative techniques that respect, rather than deplete, the area’s natural resources. The family began their journey into sustainable hospitality in 1999 when they opened an ecovillage beach club, followed by this boutique hotel in 2006, and Agricultura Naturale in 2018.
