I designed this experience for you to live and cook like a local in Modica, a gorgeous town about 70 KM from Ortigia.
Besides being famous for the production of chocolate, cioccolato modicano, Modica is an unmissable stop in the Southern area of Sicily and through this experience, you will be able to spend half day there with a local chef.
The experience begins in the morning when you’ll meet Adriana, the chef, and visit some local shops/markets (depending on the day the experience will take place) to buy some grocery and fresh produce, understanding where, why and what she usually buys to prepare her dishes.
After the shopping, you will ahead to Residenza Hortus, a beautiful house that combines the silence of the nearby monasteries with the secret harmony of the Arab gardens. The property is in the historic heart of Modica and here you will have access to a fully equipped kitchen to prepare a typical meal with Adriana. If it’s a sunny day, you could end the lunch with a coffee al fresco in the oasis garden part of the property.
Then, before going back to your hotel in Ortigia, I suggest spending the afternoon in Ragusa Ibla, another beautiful little town about 15 KM from Modica.
